Dive Into the World of Fairy Tail Next Month With New Gust-Developed JRPG

Most known for their work on the long running Atelier video game franchise which spans a whopping 21 games, the development team at Gust have been actively working on a few other JRPG projects – one of which has been confirmed to be hitting store shelves next month. Based on the 63-volume manga written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima and its TV animation which spanned a whopping 328-episodes between 2009 and 2019; Fairy Tail is a JRPG due to hit store shelves from 30 July 2020 on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.

The world of Fairy Tail is being recreated in a digital form, with the development team having a “focus of delivering the type of magic and mystique fans of the worldwide sensation anime and manga series have been craving”. With many familiar faces playable, these characters can combine their powers in a Unison Raid to unleash their magic spells at once to overpower enemies. This is adapted from the abilities premiered in the manga, but there will be more character team-ups than ever before.

In addition, a series of Extreme Magic Spells will also be introduced, including Kanna’s Fairy Glitter – which can be activated when magic attacks are combined, Makarov’s “Giant” magic, and even a spell known as Exceed Special, which will help your party out in times of terrible trouble. Each magic spell carries unique elemental properties and affinities, with magic dealing more damage to specific opponents. Characters can then upgrade their magic spells by gaining experience points throughout their journey.

Also, by using magic attacks during battle, the party’s Awakening Gauge increases. When the gauge is fully filled, characters can be Awakened, enabling them to utilise even more powerful magical abilities – and with each character employing different Awakening Modes, players will be able to expand their strategies across a broad range of sorceries and enemies.
