Having spent most of this past decade delivering the unique Saints Row franchise to gamers around the world, video game developer Volition have decided to utilise their talents at delivering over-the-top gaming experiences to present a new IP known as Agents of Mayhem. Currently in development for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC – this open-world action/adventure game is due to arrive on store shelves sometime in 2017.
Taking place in a comic hero universe, Agents of Mayhem follows the members of M.A.Y.H.E.M.(the Multinational Agency for Hunting Evil Masterminds) – an outfit of unique and diverse Super Agents recruited from around the world to thwart the looming threat posed by supervillian organisation L.E.G.I.O.N. (the League of Evil Gentlemen Intent on Obliterating Nations). It might sound a little bit cliché at first, but I have high expectations that this will be the groundwork for something more distinct.
Although delivering a separate experience with an original storyline, Agents of Mayhem does apparently take place in the Saints Row universe. According to the announcement, this game will therefore share “certain story elements, symbolism, and design inspiration with the multi-million selling franchise”. With E3 2016 around the corner, I would expect to hear more on what’s in store soon.
Developed by Volition and published by Deep Silver, Agents of Mayhem will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC platforms in 2017. Although this is not to say that another classification issue won’t befall this game as was the case with Saints Row IV, the game has already been confirmed for release in Australia, with QV Software serving as regional distributor.

Success is far from guaranteed and collateral damage will be substantial, but it’s all in a day’s work for the Agents…
