The Forza Franchise to Debut on Windows 10 PCs In The Coming Months

-

In terms of racing games exclusively available on the Xbox line of video game consoles, Turn 10 Studios’ Forza franchise is one of the most renown and (in my opinion) enjoyable. While the racing genre might not be at the top of my preference list, I have found myself turning to Forza Motorport 5 in particular every couple of months for a good session of open world racing.

Losing some console exclusivity but remaining within the Microsoft line of platforms, it has been confirmed that the Forza franchise will debut on Windows 10 PCs in the coming months. This will be undertaken by Turn 10 Studios’ release of Forza Motorsport 6: Apex, which will arrive on the Windows Store this spring as a free download. It is set to be a demonstration of what the “ForzaTech” engine can do when coupled by DirectX 12 at resolutions up to 4K. This is then set to pave the way for future Forza releases on Windows 10, presumably at a cost.

Forza Motorspot 6: Apex sets out to deliver a curated experience featuring “ authentic wheel-to-wheel action, unique automotive content and constant rewards”. It will feature a career mode which includes a new 12-event “Showcase Tour” and introduces players to a range of cars and automotive match-ups through a series of videos narrated by the likes of James May and Richard Hammond. It will also feature a new objective and scoring system, where players will be challenged “to grow their skill and compare scores with their friends”.

Forza Motorsport 6: Apex will also include Forza innovations such as Drivatar opponents and a hand-picked selection of 63 fully functioning Forzavista-enabled cars, each with working cockpits and full damage.

Will Forza Motorsport and Windows 10 be a match made in heaven? Will the PC be the best channel to play the racing game franchise on in the future, or will the Xbox One still have some exclusive titles to keep players going back to the console? Time will tell.
