Delta Goodrem to Star in Australian Production of CATS as Grizabella

-

When the primary cast of CATS the Musical was announced a couple of days ago, there was one character whose actress was missing from the cast list: Grizabella. It has today been confirmed that Australian singer-songwriter will be taking on the role. She will be performing the role in the Sydney, Hobart and Melboune legs of the show (Performing ‘Memory’, one of the shows more renown songs), and will likely be replaced by another performer for the Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth legs.

Delta Goodrem | Grizabella in CATS

I am so excited to be making my musical theatre debut as Grizabella in CATS, one of the most iconic roles. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s work is extraordinary and his music speaks to people all around the world. I am so honoured to have the opportunity to share Andrew’s music and Grizabella with a whole new generation of Australian audiences. I grew up admiring Andrew Lloyd Webbers’ musicals, so it is with great honour I am getting to join the CATS’ legacy.

Delta Goodrem is currently taking on the role as a Coach on the Nine Network’s TV show ‘The Voice’. She also has a number of hit songs under her belt, with a career in music spanning more than a decade.

Originally produced by Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Group Limited, this Australian tour is based on the West End revival production of the show. It is set to begin at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre from October 30 2015. It will subsequently tour Hobart (Derwent Entertainment Centre), Melbourne (Regent Theatre), Brisbane (QPAC – Lyric Theatre), Adelaide (Festival Theatre) and finally Perth (Crown Theatre).

This Australian tour of Cats the Musical is being presented by Lunchbox Theatrical Productions, David Atkins Enterprises and BASE Entertainment Asia in association with The Really Useful Group
