Bladestorm: Nightmare Now Available on Steam

Following the game’s Western release earlier this year on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and Xbox One platforms, Koei Tecmo have confirmed that Bladestorm: Nightmare is now available for purchase on Steam. Although it has been on the market for a couple of days now, the publisher has confirmed that initial complications reported for the PC version have been rectified.

Designed by the same team which brought us Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors, Bladestorm: Nightmare shakes the typical hack ‘n’ slash genre up a bit by being more about strategy than button mashing your way through crowds of hundreds of low-level peons. Unfortunately the game didn’t resonate all too well with me, receiving a D+ in my April 2015 review of the PlayStation 4 edition.

This game see’s the player takes the role of a mercenary (Customisable through Edit Mode) and chooses to fight either for England or for France in missions inspired by real events and battles of the era dubbed ‘the Hundred Years War’; a conflict that raged between 1337 and 1453 between the House of Plantagenet (England) and the House of Valois (France). There is also a newer ‘Nightmare’ mode, which sees the war between the two nations interrupted, as a mysterious horde of outlandish creatures begin attacking – purportedly led by an evil Joan of Arc.

Bladestorm: Nightmare is currently priced on Steam for $59.99 USD, with no launch week discounts available at this time.
