Unfortunately I don’t have many nostalgic memories of the Ducktales cartoon series which aired before my time. The television show ‘Saturday Disney’ that aired Disney cartoons over here in Australia I don’t recall really committed themselves to a full run of the series. Nor can I say the same about the video game which was before the time I picked up my very first video game consoles (The Nintendo 64).

However from what I can tell it was a popular enough video game release to merit it being remastered under the title DuckTales: Remastered, developed by WayForward and published by Capcom. The company’s have today confirmed that the game will begin distribution across North America as well as PAL regions via the respective digital download services for the PC, Playstation 3, Wii U and Xbox360 gaming devices. Unfortunately while distribution has begun, only the Playstation Network, Nintendo eShop and Steam services have day one availability. The Xbox360 release is to be made available from the 11th September 2013

DuckTales: Remastered once again follows the adventures of Scrooge McDuck and his nephews – Huey, Dewey and Louie, as they explore different themed worlds on their search for five legendary treasures.

The development team have taken the levels and layout from the original release as a foundation before expanding upon them to offer what they hope will be an enhanced gameplay experience for both returning and new gamers alike. In addition, the visuals have been touched up and original Disney character voice talent (Including some from the cartoon TV series) has been incorporated to add to the experience.

While most of the development involved remastering the original content, they have also confirmed that a new tutorial level has been included where players can become familiar with the iconic pogo jump and cane swing – as well as Scrooge McDuck’s very own Money Bin stage where Scrooge can dive into his dimes collected from each level directly off the springboard. Small touches but some may appreciate them.
