2023 Melbourne Season of A Christmas Carol to Feature Owen Teale as Scrooge

In what could very well be a new Christmas tradition for those residing in Melbourne, Old Vic Productions and GWB Entertainment have teamed up once again to present A Christmas Carol at the Comedy Theatre, Melbourne starting 12 November 2023.

Marking his first time on the Australian stage since the 2004 tour of Dance of Death, it has been announced that Owen Teale will be performing in the lead role of Ebenezer Scrooge.

In recent years, Teale has performed in a number of roles, including the recurring role of Alliser Thorne in HBO’s TV adaptation of Game of Thrones, and currently appears in the BBC detective thriller Wolf. Other screen credits include The Rig, The Pembrokeshire Murders, Spooks, Doctor Who, Robin Hood, Tolkien, The Last Legion and King Arthur. But while he has a strong filmography, his stage performance list isn’t short either. His recent international stage credits include A Doll’s House (West End/Broadway) for which he won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play, No Man’s Land (West End) and King Lear (RSC).
