Night City is back on screen. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, the second anime series from CD PROJEKT RED and Japanese animation studio TRIGGER, premiered on Netflix today, with all 10 episodes available to stream now. To mark the occasion, CD PROJEKT RED has also announced a free update for Cyberpunk 2077 that brings content inspired by the new series.
Arriving four years after the original Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the new season is a standalone story set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077 with an entirely new cast of characters. It follows the intertwining lives of a veteran edgerunner, a young film lover, a delinquent obsessed with chrome and a Snake Nation netrunner, each with their own hopes, fears and motivations, in a story about vengeance and redemption that digs deeper into the violence of Night City.
Kai Ikarashi directs the series, with Kanno Ichigo serving as lead character designer. Returning collaborators include Masahiko Otsuka and Hugo Award winner Bartosz Sztybor, who is showrunner, story writer and producer. Both seasons of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners are streaming exclusively on Netflix.
On the game side, the Edgerunners 2 Update, also known as Update 2.5, will arrive for Cyberpunk 2077 on 22 October 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version following shortly after. The free update will add a range of new items and features, including content inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.

CD PROJEKT RED will offer a first look at the new content during a special episode of REDstreams on 21 October 2026, broadcast on Twitch, YouTube and Steam. The official patch notes will be published on the same day.
