Currently Announced Line-Up for the Capitol Theatre and Sydney Lyric Theatre [As of Early-April 2016]

-

While this isn’t as big an issue with those living in Sydney and who have a bit more flexibility with their schedules to book theatre tickets, those like me living interstate may be required to book weeks if not months in advance to travel up/down to see a show in the city. If you are like me and wish to plan ahead for upcoming shows, check out the list of currently announced shows and session times.

WE WILL ROCK YOU is a futurist adventure set in the year 2350, a time when live music is banned
on earth, but the kids are in rebellion, fighting against a diet of synthesized pop.

Singin’ in the Rain
7th July 2016 – 14th August 2016 | More shows to potentially be released

Starring ADAM GARCIA as the charming movie star Don Lockwood, this spectacular show is packed full of the charm, romance, comedy and tinseltown glamour of one of the world’s best-loved movies. It tells the story of the first Hollywood musical, when the silver screen found its voice and left silent movies – and some of its stars – behind.

As well as glorious songs including Good Morning, Make ‘em Laugh, Moses Supposes and the classic Singin’ in the Rain, the movie’s choreography is brought to life, and with the help of 12,000 litres of water, the audience can enjoy one of the most iconic dance routines live on stage.

The Graduate
2nd December 2016 – 18th December 2016

Ticket sales to Jerry Hall The Graduate have been suspended, pending further clarification from the producers. This is also the case with the Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s performance of the show.

An Evening With Manu: Live on Stage
13th May 2016 @ 8PM

An evening with Manu is full of surprises. Throughout the night there will be plenty of audience participation and some practical cooking tips to try at home; and perhaps some clowning, dancing, laughing and a lot of sauce. “It’s like a theatre variety show,” said Manu. “It’s the essence of Manu in many manifestations piped out on stage”.

Arj Barker: Get in My Head
14th May 2016 @ 8PM

Arj is arguably Australia’s favourite American comedian. In recent years, he has spent more time in our country than his own and has come to understand our culture perhaps better than we understand it ourselves. His stand-up is both insightful and pointed, like a mind-reading thumb tack, if there was one of those.

Cabaret De Paris
27th May 2016 – 28th May 2016

Be transported by the atmosphere and excitement of a Parisian-themed revue with a parade of international entertainers and the daring beauty of exquisitely bejewelled exotic dancers. You will experience all the magic of a lavish French Cabaret Show like no other – be enthralled by the beauty of dancers, the magic of the music and the spectacular array of international guest artists.

The Imperial Bells of China
25th May 2016 – 26th May 2016

In 1978, the 2,400-year-old bronze and stonechime-bells of Duke Zeng’s Tomb, together with a series of other ancient instruments, were unearthed in Hubei China. Inspired by these discoveries, Hubei Opera Theatre staged the Chime Music and Dance performance bringing song, musical instruments and dance together, and puts bronze, stone, jian drum and dozens of other ancient instruments on the same stage. Through this artistic style the beautiful ancient music and dance of China are brought alive together on one stage.

Aladdin the Musical
12th August 2016 – 9th October 2016 | More shows will almost certainly be added

Does Aladdin really need to be introduced?

Tickets to see any of these shows can now be acquired via the Sydney Lyric Theatre and Capitol Theatre websites.
