A-Rawr-able and Lovable Fox At the Beach

Take That (In-Game) Snap Daily Photo

The good thing about virtual worlds is that most of them do not conform to real-world environments. If you are like me and have just come out of a freezing cold Winter, there is nothing wrong about donning a pair of budgie smugglers or a bikini and having a beach party. This is one such guest to my virtual summer party, a anthrophomorphic fox who was more than happy to let out some happy (not scary) rawrs as they enjoyed themselves

For the last couple of weeks, I have been crafting stories or providing explanatory notes with almost every instalment in the Take That (In-Game) Snap Daily Photo series. While I do so as a creative outlet, taking photos in video games is not always about telling a story or even being creative for that matter. Instead, it should be first and foremost a means of capturing a memorable in-game moment – whether defeating a complex raid, beating a challenge you have been working so hard on, or just capturing a moment worthy to remain memorable in your mind for months and years to come.

Therefore for the next little while, I would like to move away from what I have been doing, and just post pictures from different games I took on the spur of the moment. Some may be of varying quality, but nevertheless were part of just taking random photos for fun. Today’s is just a random photo I took in Second Life.

Second Life does have a reputation for more adult content (there is no shortage of that if you explicitly look for it). However, those interested in using it to build custom avatars and take great photographs will find a lot on offer from the user-created worlds, purchasable content for your avatars, a high level of customisation and clients dedicated to taking fantastic photos. Just beware that with high-quality content comes a potentially high real-world cost for digital assets.

Take That (In-Game) Snap Daily Photo is an off-shoot of the Take That (In-Game) Snap article series, in which the first article focusing on Final Fantasy XIV was recently published. This looks at, celebrates and critiques how video game developers have implemented professional photography-like systems into their games. It will cover how the systems handle, just how accessible they are and, where applicable, how a modding community might be making these tools even better. With this Daily Photo spin-off series, I will be sharing individual photos from the games either covered or soon-to-be-covered in the series.
