Plans for The Otaku’s Study going Forward

-

It has been a several days since “The Otaku’s Study – Reborn and Better Than Ever!” was posted, indicating that after a few years of hiatus, that I would again be able to put time and resources into maintaining this site following some recent events. The Otaku’s Study has in the past been very news oriented, with reviews and other articles strewn into the mix where time permitted. While some of the specifics are still to be sorted out and will likely result in some downtime over the coming week, planning is going ahead to flip this approach.

Going forward, articles and reviews will take prominence, in addition to interviews and other exclusive content. News of note will still be shared, as will preview videos and substantial screenshot batches – but these are only where time permits and will not impede on what could be considered the “main content”. This different approach will be reflected by an update to the homepage and individual category pages over the coming days.

While there will be reviews and one-off articles which are separate from this, a majority of the articles posted on The Otaku’s Study will be posted under an article series. Each series will be focused on a particular topic. Four are currently confirmed, while more will be announced over the coming weeks and months.

Figured as Much

An in-depth look at both new figures released to the Japanese and Western markets, in addition to some older items that are worth talking about given the prevalent pre-owned market for them. This was the first series I announced back in August 2018 with a single instalment, with several more on their way soon.

Take That (In-Game) Snap

A look at how video game developers have implemented professional photography-like systems into their games, how the systems handle, just how accessible they are and, where applicable, how a modding community might be making these tools even better. Currently there are two instalments planned in this series for October 2019.

Revisiting…

Partially using this as a justification to re-play, re-watch or re-visit some of the older items on my shelf, Revisiting… will be a twice-monthly series where I will pick up something I haven’t experienced for at least five years (if not more) and give it a review from the perspective of both back when it was first released and by today’s standards. The main rule behind this will be that anything reviewed on The Otaku’s Study prior will not be eligible.

A Conversation With…

My interview series, with goals to have conversations with one or two interesting people per month – relevant to the varied focuses of this site. I have two interviews that due to time constraints were never transcribed and posted, which I intend to share by the end of October.
