Queensland Symphony Orchestra to Present – David Bowie: Nothing Has Changed

In the early days of 2016, it was sadly announced that singer-songwriter David Bowie had passed away. Unsurprisingly, tributes to this Bowie’s remarkable career and personality have continued in many different ways. Here in Queensland, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra are set to give him a proper salute with a one-show only performance titled David Bowie: Nothing Has Changed.

Held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, David Bowie: Nothing Has Changed will see artists iOTA, Steve Kilbey, Deborah Conway, Adalita and Tex Perkins join QSO in performing hits from Bowie’s discography, individually selected by the performers. In total they will be performing 30 or so songs, including Changes, China Girl, Life on Mars, Under Pressure, Let’s Dance, Starman and Five Years. This is in addition to some of his more obscure songs.

The most important thing to me was how Bowie’s canon would be portrayed with real integrity and nuance by the orchestra and artists with a sympathetic voice to the work. It would be foolish to suggest we can represent the whole of Bowie’s canon; the 30 songs are both the highest selling songs and some of the most quirky performances.

Tickets to see David Bowie: Nothing Has Changed will go on sale starting 9.00am via the Queensland Symphony Orchestra website. Tickets are priced between $60 and $129, depending on seat preference.
