Queensland Symphony Orchestra Commence 2022 Season This Saturday with QSO Favourites Performance

A year of musical encounters is set to begin at the QPAC Concert Hall from this Saturday, with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra starting their 2022 season with QSO Favourites. Performed both live and also available livestreamed into six regional centres, QSO Favourites is pitched as being, as its name implies, “a concert of favourites as requested by fans and musicians”.

According to the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, this performance will feature “undisputed masterpieces of the classical era” including Beethoven’s Symphony No.5 and Holst’s The Planets. The classics not of interest to you? Attendees can also expect to be entertained by the music of Star Wars. A full program is included below:

BEETHOVEN Symphony No.5 in C minor, mvt 1: Allegro con brio
HOLST Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity from The Planets
J. STRAUSS JR On the Beautiful Blue Danube
MAHLER Symphony No.5 in C sharp minor, mvt 4: Allegretto
WILLIAMS Main Title from Star Wars
YOUNG New Work

QSO Favourites will be performed at 1.30PM and 7.30PM on Saturday 12 February 2022 in the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) Concert Hall. The performance will be conducted by Johannes Fritzsch. Can’t make it to Brisbane? The performance will be livestreamed to Proserpine Entertainment Centre, Gatton Shire Hall (TBC) in the Lockyer Valley, Empire Theatre in Toowoomba, Edkins Park in Longreach, The Wellshot Hotel in Ilfracombe, Outer Barcoo Interpretation Centre in Isisford, Quilpie (venue TBC) and into Riverside Theatre in Parramatta. Check out the individual venues website around ticketing for the streamed special event.
