For quite some time now, the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) have held Friday evening Green Jam sessions. This is a free live music program which features a range of performers and genres on a weekly basis. Continuing with the program at least until Christmas, QPAC have confirmed that Green Jam sessions will run until December 23rd, hosted from 5.30pm until 7.30pm on the Melbourne Street Green each Friday.

From July to December, Green Jam will host 11 acts from the neighbouring Queensland Conservatorium, five indigenous artists, an act from the music and arts festival Jungle Love, and some returning favourites from the 2015 Green Jam season. There will also be acts from the Brisbane City Council’s contemporary youth music program The QUBE Effect; a program that saw support from both QPAC and 4ZZZ. You can see an up-to-date lineup of performers HERE.

While the crowds it draws might not be ideal for those headed to see a show and are looking to complement it with a relaxing pre-show meal at ‘The Cafe’, I have had the chance to see a few of these sessions, and have generally been impressed by what I have seen. Not bad at all for free entertainment, and a nice way to ease yourself into the weekend.

John Kotzas | QPAC Chief Executive

There are many synergies between QPAC’s vision to provide unforgettable arts experiences for communities and Heritage Bank’s commitment to ‘people first’ has ensured a fruitful partnership for Green Jam.

For some time QPAC together with partner Heritage Bank have been committed to delivering free live performances, like Green Jam, to showcase the incredible talents of our established and emerging home grown artists. The recent expansion of this partnership for a further 2 years ensures the continuation of such opportunities for artists and audience and we thank Heritage Bank for their support.

Peter Lock | CEO of Heritage Bank

Heritage’s focus is on making life better for our customers, and the communities they live in. We’re delighted to partner with QPAC and provide people with a fantastic musical experience, as well as giving the artists the chance to reach a wider audience.

At Heritage, we’re passionate about helping people, both in the financial sense and through supporting events that enrich their lives as a whole.
