New York Comic Con, in collaboration with Ize Press, the English-language publisher of Korean comics, has confirmed today that Angy, the artist behind the Semantic Error comics, will be an official guest at this year’s event from October 17-20, 2024. This marks a milestone for NYCC, as Angy will be the first high-profile guest from the growing market of Korean comics, which is gaining strong reception in the West.
Angy is a renowned illustrator and comic artist from Korea, known for her earlier works such as Mr. Kim and the Suspicious Wife and Master Baek’s Case Notes. Her most prominent work is the comic adaptation of the boys’ love series Semantic Error. Semantic Error has received widespread acclaim across various formats, including the original webnovel by Jeo Soo-ri, the popular webcomic, and the live-action K-drama.
In April 2024, Ize Press announced its plans to offer English-localized print releases of Semantic Error. More information on that distribution is forthcoming.
