Figured As Much Photo Collection #6 - Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA - Illyasviel von Einzbern - Prisma☆Klangfest Ver 1

Building a collection of anime and video game figures is an expensive hobby. The small collection I have (some of which have been covered on The Otaku’s Study) has easily cost me a few thousand dollars to acquire over the last couple of years. Therefore if you are someone whose favourite characters shift with every season or prefer mainstream characters, and don’t have some form of disposable income, then it might not be the hobby for you. While the most popular figures will sell out during their pre-order period, in situations where you do have the luxury to do so, knowing a figure is tailored to your preferences is essential to ensure you get value for money.

As I have had to pull back from purchasing any new figures for the past couple of months, rather than write reviews of new releases, I would like to share a look at my current figure collection through this new photographic series. I hope my sharing these may help you in deciding whether purchasing a particular figure is a wise decision or note.

While many figures featuring the protagonists of Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA in recent years focused on ‘Beast Forms’, Good Smile Company and Kadokawa shook things up in 2019 by manufacturing and distributing this “Prisma☆Klangfest Ver” 1/7 pre-painted figure of Illyasviel von Einzbern. Not having a direct link to the show’s narrative itself but instead an illustration created by Hiroshi Hiroyama, this features Illya wearing a pink, purple and white coloured idol outfit, and is incredibly adorable. Although alternate designs are available for Miyu and Chloe, this is the only figure released or announced in this series to date.

Coming in at a standard retail price of ¥14,800, this figure is at the pricier end of the 1/7 scale market at its launch. While 211mm / 21.1cm may not be anything impressive for a figure of this scale either, it somewhat makes up for its price by being incredibly well detailed. If you want to rep your love of the show (or want something cute to display), this is arguably one of the best SFW figures of this series on the market.
