A new Dungeons & Dragons toy line aimed squarely at younger fans (and the young at heart) has reached Australian shelves. Dungeons & Dragons Questers, a range of blind-packed, buildable action figures from Basic Fun!, is now available in retail stores across the country.
The line is the result of a worldwide licensing agreement Basic Fun! previously announced with Hasbro, through its Wizards of the Coast division. The toy designer and marketer has developed Questers with Gen Alpha in mind, while also hoping to appeal to parents who already play the long-running roleplaying game.
The figures are split into three collectible scales: Creatures, Adventurers and Monsters. Every figure is blind-packed, so buyers will not know exactly what they have until the box is opened, and each one is fully buildable. Interchangeable parts mean pieces can be swapped between figures, letting kids mix and match to customise existing characters or assemble entirely new heroes and beasts.
Each figure also comes packaged with a D20 die and a storystarter. The pairing of these items nods to how the tabletop game itself is played, with the storystarter intended to prompt kids to invent their own tales using the figures in their collection. The company is also positioning the line as a way for parents who are already fans to introduce the franchise to their children through hands-on play.
Dan Westcott, Senior Vice President of Global Brand Marketing at Basic Fun!, spoke about working with Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast and what the line offers both kids and their parents:
We are incredibly excited to work with Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast to help introduce DUNGEONS & DRAGONS to a new generation of players. Questers invites kids into the world of D&D in a way that feels approachable, creative and fun for today’s young adventurers, while giving fan parents a meaningful way to share a universe they already love.
Kara Kenna, Franchise Creative Director for D&D at Wizards of the Coast, discussed the franchise’s growing audience and the partnership behind Questers:
As DUNGEONS & DRAGONS continues to grow its global fanbase and expand its place in pop culture, Questers gives kids an exciting, hands-on way to explore fantasy and imagination. This collaboration with Basic Fun! brings together two teams passionate about play to create something truly special for the next generation of adventurers.
