Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment have announced the upcoming theatrical release of Solo Leveling -ReAwakening- in the United States and Canada, set to commence on 6 December 2024.
Solo Leveling -ReAwakening- is adapted from the Korean web novel Solo Leveling, written by Chugong, which gained popularity after being adapted into a webtoon and manhwa in 2018, illustrated by DUBU. The first season of the anime debuted globally on Crunchyroll in January 2024, with the second season set to release in January 2025.
Solo Leveling -ReAwakening- brings together a recap of the first season of the anime and an exclusive sneak peek of the opening two episodes from season two. The story is set in a world where “gates” connect Earth with other dimensions, allowing hunters—humans with superhuman abilities—to fight monsters in dungeons for survival. The narrative follows Sung Jinwoo, a weak and low-ranking hunter, who stumbles upon a hidden, high-level dungeon. Despite his injuries, Jinwoo accepts a mysterious quest that grants him the ability to level up, setting him on a path to become the world’s strongest hunter.
Production of Solo Leveling -ReAwakening- is led by A-1 Pictures, known for Sword Art Online, with motion graphics by Production I.G, the studio behind Attack on Titan and Psycho-Pass. The series is directed by Shunsuke Nakashige (Sword Art Online), featuring music composed by Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan), with the theme song performed by K-pop group TOMORROW X TOGETHER. Character design is by Tomoko Sudo, while Hirotaka Tokuda is responsible for monster design.
