Over the past few months, Siren Visual’s release slate has been dominated by complete series re-releases and documentaries (Which to be fair are rather interesting in their own right). Despite lacking a bit in the anime department than they were a year ago, Siren Visual have at least one title a month coming out that should turn the heads of niche anime fans in Australia… Monster.

Back in January 2014 I reviewed the very first volume of Monster which I described with the following “Monster may not appeal to those who like the more mainstream anime series, but in terms of being a mystery thriller, the series provided an enticing storyline in its early episodes that will hopefully continue…“. Having finally managing to get around to the second volume release last month and containing Episodes 16 – 30, I can happily confirm that the same level of intensity and delivery of storyline is present.

It is a series that, while taking some time to initially warm you up, can leave you wanting more at the end of each and every episode. With thirty episodes now out on the Australian market, it was refreshing to see that no episode felt wasted and contributed to the experience whether it was developing the characters or progressing the story in a meaningful way.

Given that the quality has been consistent across both Volumes 1 and 2, I invite you to read my original review HERE for more information on my thoughts of this series. A full-scale review of the series will be available at the half-way point of the series (Next volume) and/or its conclusion.
