While I don’t personally follow the business side of things so much on The Otaku’s Study, news broke a couple of days ago that Funtastic Limited had plans to sell the Australian anime and pop-culture publisher Madman Entertainment (For more information, check out the AnimeNewsNetwork article “Funtastic Limited to sell Australian Distributor Madman Entertainment“). While it was initially unclear what would happen with the company should this happen, some good news has been confirmed which should satisfy the anime community of Australia and New Zealand.
It has been somewhere around eighteen years since Tim Anderson and Paul Wiegard founded Madman Entertainment, and somewhere in the vicinity of eight years since they sold their company to Funtastic. While both have since remained involved in the company as co-managing directors, taking recent events into consideration they have managed to work out an agreement that has seen Funtastic agree to sell the business back to the founders.
