After many years of waiting and the high probability that the anime adaptations of Rozen Maiden had abruptly stopped… it was recently announced that a brand new season – currently titled just “Rozen Maiden” is in development for a mid-year release. While I am not too savvy on the storyline for this season, it seems to follow a separate chronology to the earlier anime installments (Possibly closer to the manga?) but features the return of all seven main Rozen Maiden dolls as well as the human cast.
Today has seen the release of the first preview trailer for the season, with a healthy dosage of animated footage and the return of Ali Project whom performed the opening sequences for both prior seasons and the OVA episodes. Mamoru Hatakeyama is set to direct the anime with Studio Deen set to take over the reins from Nomad in terms of production. Mochizuki Tomomi will be in charge of series composition, Sakai Kyuta – character designs and Mitsumune Shinkichi for music compsoition.
Rozen Maiden has a relatively strong history in the English market with all the original manga volumes produced by Peach-Pit translated and released by Tokyopop (The current Young Jump volumes have yet to be formally released however). While the anime seasons have switched hands in the North American market several times, Sentai Filmworks currently have released both TV seasons and OVA episodes to the market where they are still available. All Rozen Maiden releases in Australia are available from Madman Entertainment.
