Squid Girl to Come with Vertical Case in Australia + Release Date 1As Madman Entertainment announced at last weeks Supanova convention, they will be releasing the anime series Shinryaku! Ika Musume under the title Squid Girl in February 2012. Before I go any further, here is a brief blurb on the series:

Foolish land-born air breathers! Behold the terror from the depths, the tentacled conqueror of humanity: Squid Girl! With your pollution and stuff you really deserve it, so prepare for menacing, inky doom! Squid Girl has come from the depths of the sea to conquer humanity for its pollution of the ocean. Within moments of arriving on the surface world, our easily distracted little invertebrate is promptly bullied into working for the Aizawa sisters as a waitress, supplying their restaurant with squid ink. If poor Squid Girl can’t handle two pushy Japanese girls, how will she ever subjugate the human race?

Media Blasters originally released this series in North America with an English dub in two volumes, the first released on the 27th September 2011 and the second to be released on the 6th December 2011. Fortunately, we will not have to wait for two volumes, as we will be getting the entire 12 episode season in one DVD collection! As well, while the North American version came with a horizontal cover (Which may or may not go well with your storage), Madman Entertainment have opted to go with a fairly nice vertical cover. The reason for this was provided by Slykura on the Madman Madboards:

With the classification requirements, the horizontal covers just don’t work.
Also I personally don’t like Horizontal covers so made a decision to go with this instead. There’s a lot of nice art for this show!

Love the cover or hate it… get ready to watch this humanoid squid attempt to take over the world with her cuteness and superiority complex this February!
