Serving as the latest instalment in Ubisoft’s Far Cry franchise, the developer/publisher have released Far Cry Primal onto the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One video game consoles. While the Far Cry games have always taken place in lesser populated areas with plenty of wilderness to explore, Far Cry Primal takes things a step further by taking place in a past era where sabretooth tigers and woolly mammoths can be found roaming the fields.
Developed by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with their other studios worldwide, Far Cry Primal takes place in the majestic land on Oros during 10,000 BC. According to game lore, this is the first frontier of mankind. Playing as Takkar, a seasoned hunter and the last surviving member of his hunting group, gamers will take on the savage Stone Age. In order to find, rescue and protect the scattered members of his Wenja tribe, Takkar must craft a deadly arsenal, fend off fierce predators and outsmart enemy tribes to become the apex predator.
As this is 10,000 BC, don’t go expecting guns and other familiar weapons at your disposal. Instead, Takkar will carry out his objectives using the deadly double-bow, bee bombs and fire. In addition to these, Takkar’s special ability to tame and command wild beasts allows to tame predators they find in the open world and use them as tools and weapons. Animals like the owl or honey badger can be summoned at any moment to take down enemies, scout the area or act as a distraction during battle and hunts.
Far Cry Primal is now available for purchase on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A PC edition will be available for purchase starting March 1st 2016.
