As Queensland theatre-goers may already know, following the success of their Cats Arena Spectacular back in 2014, Harvest Rain Theatre Company are holding another arena performance at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre this April. HAIRSPRAY: The Big Fat Arena Spectacular will be held from April 8th to 10th, and features a cast including Simon Burke, Christine Anu, Tim Campbell, Wayne Scott Kermond, Amanda Muggleton and Lauren McKenna. This main cast will be complemented by more than 500 young performers who are set to make this arena production an arena spectacular.
While they offered a number of shows to the public, it seems like demand has outstripped availability of good seats. Harvest Rain have recently announced that their season of Hairspray: The Big Fat Arena Spectacular has been extended by one session, with a fifth and final performance listed for Sunday 10th April 2016 at 6:30pm.
Don’t reside in Queensland but want to catch this show? Harvest Rain Theatre Company will be touring this show to select venues across Australia, with a Newcastle run planned for July 2016 and an Adelaide leg scheduled for October 2016. Harvest Rain usually have two major productions per year (Such as The Pirates of Penzance and Into the Woods in 2015), and it is currently unknown if these additional shows will change the trend.
