The team at development studio Spicy Horse Games have today announced that Akaneiro: Demon Hunters is now available for purchase via Steam Early Access. Akaneiro: Demon Hunters is a feudal Japanese re-imagining of the classic fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood and is now available for each the PC, Mac and Linux platforms.
From the team that also brought you “Alice: Madness Returns”, Akaneiro: Demon Hunters is set in turn-of-the-century Japan where you find a battle-hardened “Red” fighting demons, wolves and mythical monsters. You become one of the Order of Akane – an elite group of demon hunters inspired by the Red Riding Hood tale. Fight beasts and demons drawn straight from the pages of Japanese folklore.
While the full game release will be free to play at at a later date, the Early Access edition can be picked up for $9.99 which will net you $30 worth of in-game currency and items as well as an exclusive item that you will only be able to get via Steam Early Access. The Early Access phase will help the Spicy Horse team improve the game in preparation for its full release also on Steam. The Steam version of Akaneiro: Demon Hunters was made possible by thousands of gamers who backed Spicy Horse’s successful Kickstarter campaign, which raised more than $200k to expand and enhance the game.
