The teams at both 2K and their subsidiary Firaxis Games have today confirmed that XCOM: Enemy Unknown will be headed to iOS devices this week – more specifically on the 20th June 2013.

Available for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch for $19.99, this title is set to take the complex XCOM experience of the consoles and PC devices to the mobile devices with optimization for the touch interface. XCOM: Enemy Unknown for iOS is a universal app that includes GameCenter support and utilizes iCloud functionality so players can save games across their iOS devices. While not included at launch on June 20th, the popular head-to-head multiplayer mode in XCOM: Enemy Unknown will be added to iOS at a later date as a free update.

Granted I am skeptical about just how well they will port this game over to the iOS platform and at what cost to quality/performance/gameplay – I am certainly intrigued about how it will play in the end.
