Once Upon A KATAMARI Rolls Onto Nintendo Switch 2 in October

Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe has confirmed that Once Upon A KATAMARI will make its Nintendo Switch 2 debut through the Nintendo eShop on 8 October 2026. The game is currently available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch.

The Nintendo Switch 2 release will introduce several platform-specific improvements, including support for the console’s mouse controls, a smoother frame rate and upgraded graphics. Players will be able to use the mouse functionality to experience a new approach to rolling and collecting objects.

Once Upon A KATAMARI sends the Prince and his cousins across different periods in history, including the Jurassic Period, the Ice Age and historic Japan. Alongside its time-travelling stages, the game features competitive multiplayer, character customisation, music from across the series and new tracks. Power-ups are also available, including a magnet that attracts nearby items.

A new Once Upon A KATAMARI Rolling LIVE Highlights Edition will launch alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 version. This package includes the base game and the Rolling LIVE Highlights DLC. Inspired by the 2025 mobile game Katamari Damacy Rolling LIVE, the DLC adds 10 quests and their accompanying soundtracks. Its story follows the King as he attempts to remain popular with his fans, with players rolling alongside Earth’s streamers, meeting new cousins and expanding their Katamari. Bandai Namco notes that some content may differ from the original mobile release.

Three digital editions will be available. The Standard Edition contains the base game, while the Rolling LIVE Highlights Edition includes both the game and its new DLC. The Royal Sound Edition adds the Rolling LIVE Highlights DLC, Series Songs: Side A, Series Songs: Side B, Dance Dance Remixes and Neo Remixes.

The Royal Sound Edition will replace the existing Once Upon A KATAMARI King of Sound Edition, which will be discontinued on 7 October 2026. The Rolling LIVE Highlights DLC will also be sold separately across every platform on which Once Upon A KATAMARI is available.

Nintendo Switch players will be able to transfer their existing save data to the Nintendo Switch 2 version, provided a save file is not already present on the newer console. Those who continue playing the original Nintendo Switch edition through Nintendo Switch 2 will receive a free update that improves performance and enables mouse controls.
