After releasing the game as a timed PlayStation 5 exclusive last year, Kojima Productions, working alongside Nixxes Software, has announced that Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is scheduled to launch on PC on 19 March 2026. Pre-purchases for the title have commenced on both Steam and the Epic Games Store following the release of a new announcement trailer.
Technical specifications for the PC version include support for 4K resolution and multiple aspect ratios. The game will accommodate 21:9 UltraWidescreen for both gameplay and cinematics (a feature also coming to the PlayStation 5 version), while PC users will have additional support for 32:9 Super UltraWidescreen. Input options include full mouse and keyboard customisation alongside DualSense controller integration, which utilises haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. On the audio front, the title supports 3D Audio via Dolby Access, DTS Sound Unbound, and Windows Sonic for Headphones.
For players who choose to link their PlayStation accounts, the PC version will include a PlayStation overlay. This feature provides access to friends lists, profiles, and PlayStation Trophies. Additionally, connected players will receive exclusive in-game cosmetic items, including a suit inspired by the PlayStation logo and unique patches for backpack customisation.
Kojima Productions has also indicated that both the PC and PlayStation 5 versions will launch with new modes and features designed to provide additional challenges. Specific details regarding these additions are expected to be shared next month.
The standalone sequel follows protagonist Sam Porter Bridges on a mission to connect Australia to the Chiral Network. Supported by a new group known as Drawbridge, players will navigate a landscape featuring expanded tools, weapons, and vehicles. The gameplay involves a mix of stealth, combat, and traversal through environments prone to natural disasters such as sandstorms, earthquakes, and forest fires. The “Social Strand System,” a mechanic that allows players to influence each other’s game worlds through indirect asynchronous interactions, will return for this entry.
