The Xbox Team at Microsoft have announced the rollout of Copilot for Gaming (Beta), now available for early testing in the beta version of the Xbox app on iOS and Android devices. Designed as a second-screen companion, this new feature aims to provide players with real-time support, recommendations, and personalised insights as they play.
In its current mobile form, Copilot allows users to type prompts or speak directly using voice commands. Whether you’re stuck in a boss battle, want to revisit your play history, or are simply looking for a game to try next, Copilot is built to assist without disrupting your gameplay.
Players can ask questions about nearly any Xbox game, including the one they’re currently playing, or request help with specific challenges. The feature also supports queries about personal Xbox activity, including gamerscore, achievements, and subscription status. Additionally, Copilot uses Bing to source public information, offering links and context to complement account-based responses.
Some exemplar questions you can ask include:
“Hey Copilot, can you remind me what materials I need to craft a sword in Minecraft?“
[While playing South of Midnight] “I’m stuck on Rougarou right now. Can you give me some tips on how to beat this boss?”
“I love horror movies. Any suggestions for what game I should play?”
“I’m looking for a new RPG. Can you recommend something that came out on Xbox recently?
“What was the last achievement I got in Starfield?”
“When does my Game Pass subscription renew?”
Copilot also offers tailored game recommendations based on a user’s interests or past play history. Whether you’re new to Xbox or a seasoned player looking to branch out, Copilot aims to help users discover their next gaming experience.
This beta release is available in English for users aged 18 and older in select regions, including Australia, the United States, New Zealand, Japan, and Singapore. A wider rollout is planned in the future.
Players with the Xbox app beta already installed can provide feedback directly in the app by selecting “Give Feedback” under “More Options” or rating Copilot’s responses with thumbs up or down. Android users can access the beta via the Google Play Store, while iOS users are advised that further availability—including support via Game Bar on Windows—is on the way.
Xbox plans to expand Copilot for Gaming with deeper personalisation, proactive gameplay assistance, and additional features as development continues.
