Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap Launching Physically on PS5 This September

Robot Entertainment has announced that Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap, the next entry in the long-running Orcs Must Die! franchise, will be released physically for PlayStation 5 (and Xbox Series X|S in some regions) on 23 September 2025. Developed in partnership with Skybound Games, the physical edition is now available for pre-order via select retailers.

As the fifth game in the series, Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap builds on its tower defence and third-person action formula by introducing expanded progression systems, deeper cooperative gameplay, and dynamic replayability. Players take on the role of War Mages, defending rifts from waves of orcs by placing traps, using powerful weapons, and unleashing character-specific abilities. The game supports solo play and co-op for up to four players, with scaling difficulty and rewards based on player count.

Each run is shaped by a combination of randomised modifiers—buffs, debuffs, and environmental changes such as time of day and weather—affecting both players and their defences. As runs become increasingly intense, players must choose whether to press on against overwhelming odds or retreat to the castle hub to upgrade their gear before confronting a powerful Orc General boss.

The development team are aim to retain the series’ signature tone, blending humour with chaotic physics and over-the-top trap-based destruction. War Mages also come equipped with unique weapons and abilities, offering diverse playstyles that encourage both solo mastery and synergistic co-op strategies.

  • Game Disc – Includes the latest content and updates
  • Art Booklet – A collection of early concept art and behind-the-scenes insights
  • Supporter Pack DLC – A code for seven exclusive hero and weapon skins
  • Original Soundtrack – A redemption code for the game’s score, composed by Phill Boucher
