Death Game Hotel To Relaunch as F2P Meta Quest Game Next Month

After first launching last year, Death Game Hotel, the VR social game developed by White Owls Inc., is set to relaunch as a free-to-play title on Meta Quest headsets. The updated version will be available from 10 April 2025 at 10:00 AM PDT, compatible with Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest Pro devices.

This new iteration aims to broaden the game’s accessibility, inviting a wider player base into its high-stakes, metaverse-inspired world. According to White Owls President and CEO Hidetaka “SWERY” Suehiro, the move to free-to-play is intended to expand the game’s reach and elevate the gameplay experience:

With this relaunch to free-to-play, we want to open up this metaverse to all. And we’re excited for deadlier, more intense gameplay, and thrilling interactions!

As part of the relaunch, a range of new features will be introduced. These include Death Slot, a single-player mini-game where players can win in-game currency and items—though an appearance by the Grim Reaper may disrupt progress. Three new avatars—Evelyn, Liam, and DJ-S.A—are also being added to the character roster. In addition, the update includes a new playroom called the Space Room, a zero-gravity environment where items float through the air and can be caught mid-battle.

To mark the occasion, all players will receive a set of free items including a Laser Gun, Selfie Camera, and 2,000 Golden Nuggets. White Owls has also confirmed plans to add story avatar downloadable content and discounted bundles post-launch.

Players who purchased the original version of Death Game Hotel will receive legacy rewards including a supporter badge, premium cigars, a specially engraved lighter, and in-game currency.
