Adapted from the fantasy manga and novel series by Motoo Nakanishi, the series will debut with a special 60-minute episode on Monday, 31 March 2025, at 8:30 am (ET). Set in the Edo period, the story follows Jinta, a wandering orphan who, alongside his younger sister Suzune, finds refuge in the mountain village of Kadono. Growing up to become the guardian of a local shrine maiden named Itsukihime, Jinta embarks on a mission to confront a mysterious demon. This encounter marks the beginning of his journey through multiple historical periods, from Edo to Heisei, as he faces threats from powerful entities and reflects on the path he has chosen as a sword wielder.

Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho is based on Motoo Nakanishi’s original novel and manga. The light novel series, which spans 14 volumes, and the manga, currently seven volumes long and illustrated by Yū Satomi, are published by Futabasha. English editions of both the manga and light novels are available through Seven Seas Entertainment. The anime adaptation is directed by Kazuya Aiura, with scripts by Deko Akao, character designs by Taro Ikegami, and production handled by Yokohama Animation Laboratory. The main voice cast includes Taku Yashiro as Jinta, Reina Ueda as Suzune, and Saori Hayami as Shirayuki.
