Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0 Receives Mid-January Release Date

HoYoverse has announced that Version 3.0 of Honkai: Star Rail, titled Paean of Era Nova, will be released on 15 January. This next major update in the free-to-play gacha-supported sci-fi RPG will introduce players to the new world of Amphoreus, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the main storyline. The Trailblaze Mission in Amphoreus will unfold in two parts across eight versions, from 3.0 to 3.7, making it the largest narrative arc in Honkai: Star Rail so far. Alongside the expanded storyline, the update will feature new maps and gameplay elements, as well as new playable characters Aglaea, The Herta, and the Trailblazer: Remembrance.

After leaving the festive planet Penacony, the Astral Express heads towards Amphoreus under the guidance of Black Swan. The crew seeks to replenish Trailblaze Fuel and unravel the mysteries of this enigmatic world. Amphoreus is described as a chaotic vortex, undetectable to the universe beyond. Its inhabitants are unaware of external existence and do not recognise the concept of “Aeons,” instead worshiping deities known as Titans. According to local legend, twelve Titans created Amphoreus, each with distinct roles: some wove fate, others shaped the heavens and earth, while others molded life or brought calamity.

The history of Amphoreus is steeped in conflict and tragedy. An ancient civil war broke out when the Titans Strife, Death, and Trickery arrived, leading to a power struggle among the gods. This strife was compounded by the emergence of the mysterious “black tide,” a force that drives any being it touches into madness. Even the mighty Titans were not immune to its effects. Over centuries, as the black tide consumed more of the world and the gods waged endless battles, Amphoreus descended into an eternal night. Today, humanity’s last refuge lies in the Holy City of Okhema, protected by Kephale, the Worldbearing Titan.

The arrival of the Astral Express comes at a turning point in Amphoreus’s fate. Upon entering this world, the Trailblazer and Dan Heng find themselves in the Abyss of Fate. This region, once governed by the Titans Time, Passage, and Law, lies in ruins, shrouded in darkness. As the narrative progresses, the Trailblazer will delve deeper into the temple of the Abyss of Fate and eventually meet Oronyx, the Titan of Time. Through this encounter, the Trailblazer gains the ability to draw strength from the past, embarking on the Path of Remembrance. Players will also explore areas including Okhema, and Castrum Kremnos. In these locations, they will uncover the history of Amphoreus, battle formidable foes, and join the Chrysos Heirs on their quest to recover Titan Coreflames, essential to saving the world.

Players will also meet Mem, a companion with mysterious origins. Mem communicates only through the sound “Mem” and serves a pivotal role in combat. During battles, Mem can be summoned by the Trailblazer to charge Energy. When fully charged, Mem’s Support allows a designated character to act immediately and deal additional True Damage.

Version 3.0 will introduce two new 5-star characters: The Herta and Aglaea. The Herta, a member of the Genius Society, is an Ice-Type Erudition character capable of dealing significant area-of-effect damage. Her unique skill set revolves around stacking and transferring Interpretation, a mechanic that boosts her attacks against specific targets.

Aglaea, a native of Amphoreus, is a 5-star Remembrance character with the ability to summon Garmentmaker, her memosprite companion. Together, they bring a rhythmic and collaborative combat style, synchronising attacks for strategic advantage.

Additional Warp events will provide opportunities to acquire rerun characters such as Lingsha, Feixiao, and Boothill. Moreover, March 7th will receive a Preservation outfit, claimable by players logging in during the update period.

Honkai: Star Rail is now available to download on the PC, PlayStation 5, iOS and Android platforms as a free-to-play, gacha-supported sci-fi RPG experience.
