Nintendo has today launched Nintendo Music, a new app that provides Nintendo Switch Online members in select regions access to an extensive library of Nintendo game soundtracks. The music on offer spans also 40 years of franchises both modern and more retro, including Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Splatoon. The app is available at no additional cost to subscribers of either Nintendo Switch Online or Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack memberships.
The app allows users to stream music directly or download tracks for offline listening. Tracks can be found through various search options, including game title, track name, playlist name, or even by browsing through accompanying game screenshots. For users wanting uninterrupted music for work or study, selected tracks can be looped or extended for 15, 30, or 60 minutes. A filter is also included to hide soundtracks that could potentially contain spoilers.
The app encourages personalisation, enabling users to build and share playlists or explore curated lists from Nintendo. Recommendations are provided based on a user’s Nintendo Switch Play Activity. Nintendo has also confirmed that this won’t be a release and forget project, with plans to add new music selections to the app post-launch.
