What The Duck Launches on PC and Nintendo Switch: A Quirky Action-Adventure RPG

Untold Tales and Seize Studios has let the duck loose, releasing their action-adventure What the Duck onto the PC and Nintendo Switch. The game is now available to purchase digitally on both Steam and Epic Game Stores for the PC, and the Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo Switch.

What The Duck sets out to offer gamers a blend of exploration, crafting, combat, and rhythm games in an action-packed RPG setting. The game sets itself apart with a quacker of a premise: while everyone in the game’s world can summon and control mighty spirit animals, the player ends up with a duck as their spirit companion. This unconventional pairing sets the stage for an adventure filled with revenge, self-acceptance, and the quest to make a name in a world where power is determined by the might of one’s spirit animal.

The game features four distinct biomes, each filled with its own set of quests, enemies, puzzles, secrets, mini-games, and characters. Players can forge alliances with other characters and their spirit animals, gather resources, and enhance their inventory and powers.

Combat in What The Duck is pitched as being dynamic dynamic, allowing players to choose from a range of weapons for hack-and-slash battles. The combat system is designed to enable seamless switching between weapons for powerful combos. Players can mix weapons, gain buffs against enemies, and call upon their duck companion for unique attack assistance.

Got the groove? You can craft. What The Duck also features a rhythm-based weapon forging mini-game, where the strength of the player’s beat influences the power of the crafted weapon. Furthermore, the duck companion is not just a quirky sidekick, but pitched as a versatile helper capable of flying, swimming, solving puzzles, accessing hard-to-reach areas, and uncovering secrets. Embracing the abilities of this unlikely ally is key to progressing through the game.
