Since opening pre-orders for the PlayStation 5 (PS5) early on Thursday morning, EB Games Australia sold out of launch stock within the hour, and reached capacity for their second wave stock around noon that day. After managing to take pre-orders for 2021 stock over the last couple of days, the Australian video game retailer has confirmed they are temporarily closing pre-orders for the console (both variants), its dual charger and headset.

In a statement made by EB Games:
AN IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING PLAYSTATION 5 PREORDERS
We are temporarily closing preorders online and instore for 2021 stock of the PlayStation 5 Console, PlayStation 5 Digital Edition Console, the PlayStation 5 Dual Charger and PlayStation 5 Headset. We will advise customers when updated information regarding supply is available.
For customers who have been able to secure a preorder for a PlayStation 5 console, all PlayStation 5 Software and PlayStation 5 DualSense Controller preorders remain open online and instore.

Most retailers, not only in Australia but across the world, appear to have sold out of their PlayStation 5launch stock, so this is not an issue exclusively to the one retailer. Although we have no information about why exactly preorders for 2021 stock have been postponed, we will be sure to share any updates when it becomes known to us.
