The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on 29 September 2026, and anyone who already owns The Witcher 3 on the original Nintendo Switch will be able to claim the new version at no extra cost.
The remaster is a modernised, upgraded version of the original RPG. Players once again step into the boots of professional monster slayer Geralt of Rivia as he crosses the war-torn Northern Kingdoms in search of Ciri, his adopted daughter and the Child of Prophecy, ahead of the Wild Hunt’s riders who seek to claim her power. The package includes the base game along with both previously released expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine.
The Switch 2 edition has been built to make use of the platform’s specific features. Motion controls can be used to cast witcher signs, fire the crossbow, throw bombs, drink potions and speed up or stop Roach. Gyro aiming adds precision in combat, while mouse controls offer an alternative for players who prefer that input method. Touch screen support covers the in-game map and menus, and can also be used when playing Gwent.
Beyond these control options, the Switch 2 version draws on the hardware to improve both performance and visual fidelity, on top of the broader set of changes arriving with Remastered itself. Those changes include graphical and performance enhancements, overhauled combat and animations, a completely redesigned skills and character progression system, updated monster behaviours, transmogrification and an expanded photo mode, among others.
For existing owners, the upgrade process depends on how the original was purchased. Digital owners of the Nintendo Switch version can pre-order Remastered for free right now from the Nintendo eShop, while those with a physical copy will be able to claim the upgrade once the game launches. New players can pre-order The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered today ahead of its 29 September release.
