Bandai Namco Entertainment has today announced that work is underway on Tales of Eternia Remastered, the next release in its Tales of Remastered Project. The action RPG is scheduled to launch on 16 October 2026 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. Physical editions are also planned for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Tales of Eternia was originally released on PlayStation 1 in 2000, with the only port since then being a PlayStation Portable release several years later. So for many modern gamers, this will be the first time to easily dive into the classic Namco-developed RPG.
Tales of Eternia Remastered takes players back to the divided worlds of Inferia and Celestia, where Reid Hershel and his childhood friend Faran Oersted are drawn into a much larger conflict after meeting a mysterious girl who speaks an unknown language. Their search for answers soon leads them toward the “Great Fall”, a catastrophic collision between the two worlds that threatens both of their existences.
The remaster retains the game’s fast paced 2D battles through the Aggressive Linear Motion Battle System, which lets players chain Artes and work alongside party members during combat. Several quality of life improvements have also been added for this release, including destination icons, the option to disable enemy encounters, and a high speed mode for auto battle. Players will also be able to switch between remastered and original graphics, alongside adjustable sound settings.
