PQube and Crinkle Cut Games have released a major free update for Discounty, titled the People or Profit? Expansion. The update is available now on PC via Steam, with PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch versions planned for July. A new trailer for the expansion was shown during Wholesome Direct 2026, offering a look at its new story content and gameplay features.
People or Profit? takes place directly after the original ending of Discounty. The new chapter sees Aunt Tellar finally place players in charge, leaving them to decide the future of both Discounty and the town of Blomkest. The expansion adds a branching final questline, with player decisions and alliances leading to one of three new endings. Along the way, players will meet three new characters: Gaspard, Tammy’s disgraced brother who hopes to run a hydroponic farm, Angeel, a city visitor opening a branch of the luxury grocery store Muimerp, and Casey, a troubled teen selling supposedly legitimate goods from the trunk of their car.
Several new gameplay systems have also been added. Town Restoration lets players take on renovation projects around Blomkest, from helping Solruna reclaim her old shop to reopening the John Key museum, investigating an old shed or placing Discounty billboards across town. Players can also discover Jürgen’s old workshop and use it to create new shop gadgets. These include a self-checkout register and an online order fulfilment system, giving players more ways to upgrade their store.
The update also introduces the ability to choose which items to stock, supported by 35 new items. Random shop events have been added as well, requiring players to adapt their approach during each shop day. Another new feature allows players to move out of Aunt Tellar’s old trailer and buy a larger permanent house. Alongside the main additions, the People or Profit? Expansion includes smaller improvements, quality of life updates and bug fixes for Discounty.
