Capcom used the latest Nintendo Direct to outline a trio of releases, one of them being a duo of announcements surrounding the action-adventure RPG Dragon’s Dogma 2. In this, a brand new DLC expansion dubbed ‘Dark Arisen’ (using the same naming convention as the DLC for Dragon’s Dogma) will be released for all supported platforms, in addition to a proper release of Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen on the Nintendo Switch 2.
The package, which bundles Dragon’s Dogma 2 with its Dark Arisen Expansion content, is set to reach Nintendo Switch 2 for the first time on 9 October 2026. On the same date, the Dark Arisen Expansion itself will launch for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The expansion sends the Arisen to Norgan, a Northern region described as long-abandoned, where they team up with a figure named Eir to investigate the undying Fallen Dragon. The journey tasks players with locating and appraising forgotten relics, a process that unlocks fresh weapons and skills. The update also adds 12 Lost Rites Dungeon Challenges, a set of dungeons containing trials laid out by the Pathfinder that are intended to test the Arisen’s abilities and yield rare equipment previously held by earlier Arisen. Players focused on customisation will find additional Character Creator options as well, including new hairstyles and tattoos.
Two updates to the base game are planned ahead of the expansion’s arrival. The first, released today, eases fast travel through a reusable item called the Eternal Ferrystone and brings a number of other quality-of-life adjustments. The second update, expected at the end of August, focuses on improved frame rates, provides extra save slots and offers further quality-of-life refinements.
