Following up from the original 2021 action RPG, Secret Level Studios and Twin Hearts, together with PQube, announced that work is underway on Kitaria Fables 2. The title is scheduled for a digital release across PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and the Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in the future.
The narrative of Kitaria Fables 2 shifts the focus to the Arkadera Peninsula, a frontier region where nature has reclaimed many former Imperial outposts. Players follow the journey of two new protagonists: Alice Skylar, a Royal Army Pathfinder, and her guide, Dusty Tuftkin. Together with the Royal Academy Expedition Team, the pair aims to reopen the local errand house in Whitewall Town and investigate reports of a mysterious figure seen in the northern wilderness.
Several mechanical updates are being implemented in hopes of evolving the experience from its predecessor. The game features an unfixed camera to provide a broader view of the world, alongside larger environments designed to reduce the need for repetitive grinding. Progression has been shifted to an experience-based levelling system, complemented by improved fast travel options. The farming component has also been expanded, tasking players with restoring Aunt Kiki’s farmstead by growing various crops and upgrading facilities to generate profit.
Combat aims to remain a core element, with each hero possessing a dedicated skill tree for unlocking elemental spells and unique special attacks. Alice and Dusty also have access to ultimate abilities for more challenging fights. The entire campaign is playable in co-op mode, supporting both online and local couch play for two participants to experience the story simultaneously.
Exploration plans to take players through diverse landscapes including marshes, forests, and snow-capped mountains to collect materials. These resources are used to craft equipment, brew potions, or cook meals with the help of artisans in Whitewall Town. Side quests and interactions with residents of remote settlements provide additional opportunities to earn rare rewards while players work to restore the long-forgotten outposts of the peninsula.
