ZeniMax Online Studios has launched The Elder Scrolls Online: Battle for the Writhing Wall, a limited, one-time event now available on PC, Mac, Xbox and PlayStation. Players are invited to collaborate server-wide to fight the Worm Cult and unlock a new explorable region and rewards.
Set within this year’s Seasons of the Worm Cult saga, the event centers on Solstice, where the Writhing Wall has blocked access to the island’s eastern half and the cult’s stronghold. Participants must gather supplies, assault the fortifications and push through to challenge the Worm Cult. Each megaserver will progress independently, creating a race across regions to be the first to break the barrier. Server progress can be tracked on the ESO website, allowing communities to follow collective contributions in real time.
The event unfolds across three phases, each adding challenges and rewards. Phases 1 and 2 focus on preparation for the breach, including acquiring key items and defeating enemies and World Bosses. All ESO players can contribute to these preliminary phases, while only 2025 Content Pass owners can pick up quests on Solstice.
Phase 3 begins once the community opens the way into the Writhing Fortress. From that point, each server has one week to complete the assault, bring down the Wall permanently and unlock the new region. This phase is the only opportunity to earn a unique Title associated with the event. Completion of Phase 3 and access to Eastern Solstice require the 2025 Content Pass.
The Battle for the Writhing Wall is designed as a singular moment in ESO’s timeline, with progress and outcomes determined by player action. Once the event window closes on a given server, the opportunity will not return.
