XD Games is preparing to roll out Torchlight: Infinite’s ninth content drop next week, with the “Outlaw” season going live on 17 July 2025 at 7 pm PDT. First detailed during the annual TorchCon gathering in Shanghai on 11 July, the update layers a crime-caper flavour onto the free-to-play ARPG while introducing a slate of mechanical tweaks, fresh loot, and quality-of-life refinements.
TorchCon’s on-stage reveal centred on the new seasonal mechanic, simply titled Outlaw. Hunters will intercept TOWER Co. convoys, crack open their supply caches, and fight off increasingly determined reinforcements. Successful heists raise a personal Crime Rating; higher ratings unlock lucrative Black Market Bounties but also dial up enemy difficulty. On occasion, an encrypted transport can appear, carrying rarer goods and a chance for a Chain Multiplication bonus that multiplies the final payout.
Season nine also builds upon the game’s hero roster as well. Lightbringer Rosa undergoes a “Mercury Baptism” and emerges as Unsullied Blade, a mana-fuelled knight who forges a Realm of Mercury around her. Within this zone she can stack concentrated strikes and unleash periodic area damage, pushing Rosa toward hybrid spell-and-steel builds.
Another headline addition is the replacement of the old Imbue system with Focus Skills. Each Focus skill charges under specific conditions—attacking, moving, igniting foes, and so on—then discharges in a decisive burst. Five examples include:
- Sharp Focus delivers a single, heavy blow after enough basic attacks;
- Erosion Focus builds passively and fires homing projectiles;
- Ice Focus triggers an Ice Storm when striking frozen targets;
- Thunder Focus rewards constant movement with radial lightning;
- Flame Focus chains explosions whenever an ignited enemy falls.
The game will also offer additional Legendary drops. Highlights include Trinity, a necklace aimed at elemental builds; Quantum Convergence gloves that sacrifice minion life for extra damage; and Solid River, a helmet that doubles Spell Burst output. Crafters can also experiment with the new TOWER Sequence feature, which crafts non-Legendary weapons and shields carrying bespoke, build-defining affixes.
Endgame farming also receives a tune-up: Secret Realms will spawn less often but carry richer spoils, while Sprout of Legends drops inside Deep Space areas have been tripled. The seasonal boss rotation, Supreme Showdown, now features a reworked General Redscale whose Blood Swords and widening crimson pools aim to corral mobile builds; returning antagonists the Sons of Rising Tide round out the refreshed roster.
Smaller yet welcome improvements include an inventory recycling tool that previews reclaimed materials, user-supplied audio cues for the loot filter, and upgraded price-checking in the Trade House that standardises valuations across PC and mobile clients.
