Gran Canaria-based studio Broken Bird Games and publisher SelectaPlay have released Luto, a first-person psychological horror game now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Set inside a shape-shifting house where every exit seems to lead further inward, Luto asks players to confront themes of loss, anxiety, and depression rather than escape them.
Luto’s design focuses on sensory unease. Sound cues, changing architecture, and subtle visual distortions combine to unsettle players as they search for clues to the protagonist’s past. According to the developers, each room holds hidden symbols and puzzles linked to real-world phobias, encouraging slow, exploratory play over jump-scare reliance.
Luto builds its tension around emotional horror that confronts the pain of bereavement, filtering every room through shifting architecture full of secrets and symbolism that blur memory and reality; atmosphere and sound replace cheap shocks to sustain a steady dread, while encounters inspired by common phobias make each space feel uncomfortably personal, all unfolding through a narrative players unravel at their own pace by piecing together fragmented memories.
