Set your nets and ready the… onions? Aquaculture is the next big addition to the Farming Simulator series. Scheduled for release on 4 November 2025, Farming Simulator 25: Highlands Fishing will introduce players to the rugged beauty of Kinlaig, a new map inspired by the Scottish Highlands and steeped in natural and architectural charm.
Highlands Fishing sets out to be more than just a fresh coat of paint. It brings a long-requested gameplay element to the series: aquafarming. For the first time, players will be able to raise and harvest fish both from the shore and at sea. Whether fishing casually with a rod or piloting a boat across Kinlaig’s cloud-covered waters, the game aims to offer a serene alternative to traditional crop work – while still delivering a productive gameplay loop.
This new setting isn’t just about fishing, either. Kinlaig is described as a town of contrast: scenic hills and castles share the landscape with ongoing construction and agricultural sprawl. Players can look forward to cultivating new crops, including onions, and raising Highland cattle in between their maritime activities.
Complementing the expansion’s new features is a fleet of machinery and equipment, including more than 20 new machines and four new manufacturers joining the lineup: Monosem, Can-Am, Agri-Spread, and GT Bunning.
Farming Simulator 25: Highlands Fishing Edition – which includes the base game and expansion — will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. Pre-orders are now open ahead of its early November release.
