ZeniMax Online Studios has released Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 1, the latest story chapter for The Elder Scrolls Online, alongside the free base-game patch Update 46. Both are now available for players on PC and Mac, with a console launch scheduled for 18 June 2025 on Xbox and PlayStation platforms.
Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 1 marks the beginning of a new two-part narrative arc, continuing a storyline first introduced a decade ago in ESO’s base game. In this chapter, players travel to the island of Solstice, where the Worm Cult has seized control of its eastern region and hidden their activities behind the mystical Writhing Wall. Players will explore the Western Solstice zone, encountering new World Bosses, Delves, a Public Dungeon, and a new 12-player Trial titled The Ossein Cage.
A significant addition with this update is the introduction of the Subclassing system. This new feature allows players to replace up to two of their current skill lines with those from other classes. Meanwhile, for those returning to ESO, the Hero’s Return system is designed to help reintegrate players with refreshed objectives and unique login rewards. Completing this onboarding path also unlocks the Hero’s Return Golden Pursuit, offering additional resources and incentives.
Update 46 also brings several quality-of-life improvements to the base game. These include a revised in-game map to simplify navigation across Tamriel, updated tutorials for the Wayshrine fast-travel system, and an enhanced re-entry experience for returning players.
Console players can prepare for the Western Solstice chapter by taking on the new free prologue quest, A Guild in Crisis, where they assist Prince Azah of Sentinel in uncovering the truth behind the Worm Cult’s renewed presence.
Both Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 1 and Update 46 are available now for PC and Mac users, with their console counterparts set to arrive on 18 June. Players with the 2025 Content Pass will receive access to all updates planned for the year, including both parts of Seasons of the Worm Cult, two dungeon packs, and the Writhing Wall in-game event.
