Bandai Namco Entertainment has confirmed the development of Code Vein II, a sequel to the 2019 action RPG Code Vein, developed once again by Bandai Namco Studios. Slated for release in 2026, the game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
The debut trailer introduces players to a post-apocalyptic setting where both humanity and Revenants—vampire-like beings central to the series—are caught in a struggle for survival. Pitched as a narrative-driven experience combining strategic combat and exploration with large-scale boss encounters, Code Vein II introduces time manipulation as a key mechanic, with players wielding time itself as a weapon.
The story unfolds in a fractured future threatened by a force known as the Luna Rapacis. This emergence causes Revenants to lose their sanity, transforming into creatures known as Horrors. Players take on the role of the Revenant Hunter, journeying through pivotal historical moments with the aid of a mysterious girl named Lou, who possesses the ability to traverse the past. Together, they aim to alter the destinies of Revenants and uncover truths that may be vital to saving the world.
The game will span two distinct time periods. Combat is built around a system where blood harvested from enemies can be used to unlock special abilities. Players will also utilise customisable “Blood Codes” and unique weapons called “Jails” to face enemies and bosses. Accompanying them throughout their journey will be Partner characters, each with individual abilities and narrative arcs that affect the game’s progression.
More information about Code Vein II’s gameplay and narrative elements is expected to be revealed closer to its release.
