After being available on virtually every other modern-day gaming console except the Nintendo Switch, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will finally make its way to a Nintendo platform. CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the game will be part of the launch day lineup for the Nintendo Switch 2, as announced during the NS2-oriented Nintendo Direct. Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will be available for purchase as a physical 64 GB game card or as a digital download via the Nintendo eShop.
The Ultimate Edition includes both the base Cyberpunk 2077 game and its expansion Phantom Liberty, providing a complete experience of the dark-future narrative. Players will assume the role of V, a cyber-enhanced mercenary navigating the violent, neon-lit streets of Night City in pursuit of survival and status. However outside of the inclusion of the expansion, there does not appear to be any new updates.
The release has been tailored to take advantage of the Nintendo Switch 2’s new features. This includes support for motion controls in combat, gyroscopic aiming through Gyroscope Mode, touchscreen functionality for navigating menus and inventories, and the ability to use the Joy-Con 2 (R) as a mouse-like input device.
Adam Badowski, Game Director of Cyberpunk 2077, commented on the significance of this release, sharing:
We are delighted to bring the immersive world of the dark future to Nintendo players for the first time! Thanks to the Nintendo Switch 2 system, you can transport yourself to the City of Dreams at home or on the go.
This is the most cyberpunk way to play Cyberpunk 2077. With every new feature, players can take centre stage in the action to become the ultimate edgerunner.
