When inZOI enters Early Access in less than a day from now, one of the experimental features they will be offering players with access to is ‘Smart Zoi’ functionality. This feature is designed to make in-game characters more autonomous and lifelike through enhanced AI. This functionality aims to deliver richer, more realistic simulations by giving Zois the ability to interact with their surroundings with personality and nuance.
‘Smart Zoi’ is currently in early development, with further improvements planned over time. The feature can be enabled manually via the gameplay settings – Game Options > Gameplay > Enable Smart Zoi > On. However while the system specs have been shared for inZOI itself, taking advantage of the ‘Smart Zoi’ system will require higher specs that normal. These are included below:

The development team is also working to reduce the performance burden to make Smart Zoi accessible to more players. When this is scheduled to be incorporated into the development roadmap, if possible at all, is unknown. At this stage, Smart Zoi is limited to English-language input via the Zoi Pen and remains subject to several known issues, including:
- Gameplay performance may degrade if multiple Zois are on-screen and sleepy after 11 p.m.
- New schedule items may not be created if a Zoi goes to bed late.
- Journal entry creation and schedule editing are disabled when playback speed exceeds 5x.
- A Zoi’s Inner Thoughts may vanish quickly during conversations.
While other life simulation games have typically incorporated some form of AI influencing the actions of its worlds inhabitants, this is one of the first games taking advantage of new locally hosted AI technology which factors in more customisable elements to make each character more unique.
