In a land where alchemy is feared, history lies buried, and civilisation has crumbled, Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land asks players to do something few dare: reclaim a forgotten legacy. Now available from KOEI TECMO and developer Gust, this latest entry in the long-running Atelier series invites players to step into the shoes of Yumia Liessfeldt, an alchemist determined to uncover the truth behind the fall of the Aladissian Empire—a once-great civilisation built on alchemy, now little more than myth and rubble.
Atelier Yumia leans into themes of loss, memory, and self-determination. Yumia isn’t just an adventurer; she’s a historian of sorts, searching for answers buried beneath the dust of a ruined world. Alongside a cast of companions, she traverses a continent where biomes shift with each new region, revealing secrets, threats, and remnants of a society long gone.
Gameplay seeks to expand on the familiar synthesis mechanics of the franchise. Players can now gather materials and craft items in the field with a “Simple Synthesis” feature, eliminating the need to return to base for every concoction. For those who enjoy the cosier aspects of the Atelier games, a new “Building” system allows players to construct, furnish, and personalise their own base of operations—an oasis in a world otherwise devoid of structure.
In collaboration with Bandai Namco’s TEKKEN 8, special themed content will be introduced into Atelier Yumia as free downloadable content in the future. Costumes, skills, and accessories inspired by the fighting game franchise will be available at a later date, bridging two very different genres.
